Geoffrey Owens

Geoffrey Owens was born as the son of Major Owens. His father was a United States Congressman. Geoffrey used to work as a teacher at the HB Studio in New York City, where he was teaching Shakespeare. There is not much information available about either his early life or his personal life.

Geoffrey has been seen on the television quite often doing guest appearances on various TV shows. His most famous role till date is that of Elvin Tibideaux, the husband of Sondra Huxtable on the classical comedy series The Cosby Show.

Other shows, through which Geoffrey has given his viewers a taste of his talent, include ABC Afterschool Specials, Law & Order, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Journeyman, Las Vegas, Journeyman, Without a Trace, and many others.

In addition, to making several appearances on the small screen, Geoffrey has also worked in a handful of movies. His movie projects include The Paper, Stonebrook, Forgiven, The Cross and Play the Game. His upcoming movie Salomaybe?, is currently under the process of post production. In 2007, Geoffrey also directed an episode of Life from the Inside.

Role In The Cosby Show

In The Cosby Show, Geoffrey plays the role of Elvin Tibideaux. He was first introduced on the show as the boyfriend of Sondra Huxtable and later became her husband in the fourth season. Although, Sondra and Elvin were shown to argue a lot during the initial episodes of the show, later Elvin’s interactions with the Huxtable family and particularly Clair made him deal with his male-chauvinist attitude. Although, Elvin decides to quit his studies after, he returns from his honeymoon with Sondra, he decides to complete his studies after his twin children are born.
